fine art
My work explores the relationship between what is already within us and what we continue to take in from the world. Color, places traveled, time spent in nature, small details, and moments are absorbed and held alongside memory and nostalgia—the particular blue of a place, the way light shifts a color you thought you already knew.
On the canvas, these influences become a conversation between materials: marks made and removed, additions and subtractions, layers of color and expressive mark-making repeated until something new emerges. It is an ongoing cycle of noticing, absorbing, remembering, and creating.
Ultimately, I want the work to feel expressive yet calming—to hold energy and stillness at once, and offer a place for the eye, and perhaps the mind, to rest.
